It seems like so often time just flies, but this month was somehow different. It didn't drag at all, but it went by at a good pace. A month ago seems like a long time ago. Was it that way for anyone else? Here, it was the wrap-up of summer and the beginning of the school year, plus some other fun things! (Yes, school is fun! :P) As you can tell if you scroll down, it was quite a busy month! But, without further ado, here are some of my favorites from this month that I'd like to share with you! (Did anyone else besides me notice that that rhymed? :D) I hope that you'll jump down to the comments and let me know how your month was and some of your favorites from it! Favorite Events
A Favorite Verse PassageAnd what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. ~Matthew 6:16-18 A Favorite SongI know I'd shared the video of the choir at Youth Congress singing this a few weeks ago, but this has been a special song this past month. We've been singing it as a teen group and even sung it in church last Sunday, and I've found myself just singing it to myself throughout the day sometimes. I noticed that some of the other teens were doing the same thing. ;) It's an uplifting song! A Favorite BookIt was hard to pick which book to share at first since I've enjoyed all the books I read this past month, but I settled on this one, Overrun by Your Love by Erika Matthews. I don't normally read alot of poetry, but this little book caught my eye after reading one of the poems from it. They're encouraging, thought-provoking poems, some about God and our relationship with Him, others about family and friends, and others about nature and a variety of other topics. I really do recommend this book to anyone, regardless of whether you normally like poetry or not! You can read my review of it on Goodreads here: Sophia E.’s review of Overrun By Your Love | Goodreads. How was August for you? What were some of your favorites? Also, do you normally like to read poetry? I hope you'll leave a comment letting me know below!

Do you ever find yourself worrying about the future? I know I do. Sometimes it's easy to get concerned about what I'll do when I Lord willing graduate, if I'll go to college or stay home, if/when I should get a job, if/when I'll get married, where money or time for a certain thing will come from, and the list could go on! Maybe for you it's different things, but I think most of us, if not all of us, find ourselves becoming worried about how different things will work out. In the last few weeks, the Lord has been showing me different things about this very topic (don't you love how God always helps us with and teaches us exactly what we need at the specific time in our life and walk with Him?), and I wanted to share some of the things that He is teaching me with y'all. <3 I've been working on reading the book of Matthew and the other day I came to Matthew 6. I knew many of these verses, but they struck me in a different way when I read them this time. I won't put them all here in this post, but I encourage you to read Matthew 6:19-34 on your own! That passage begins with Jesus talking about laying up our treasure in Heaven instead of on earth because earthly things can be destroyed or stolen, but heavenly things are eternally safe. Verse 25 is when He starts talking about worry. He commands us there to not worry but to trust Him to take care of all of our needs. He asks if, if He can take care of the birds who don't grow food for themselves and if He can clothe the lilies so beautifully who don't work and are looked at as so common, can take care of us? "Therefore take no thought, saying What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." ~Matthew 6:31-33 We're not to worry about how the things we need will be provided. God commands us to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and then He'll make sure all those things are taken care of! That's a promise from His Word! He'll Lead Our WayThat passage in Matthew 6 provides wonderful comfort that our daily needs our taken care of, but what about the path of our life? "When my sprit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path." ~Psalm 142:3a "The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower... It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places." ~Psalm 18:2, 32-33 What We Are Supposed To Do |
